Professional Learning
We are delighted to support educators with various professional learning development opportunities in their teaching using a structured literacy approach.
Each month we run highly practical webinars for teachers. These usually run for 45 minutes and include time for questions and a giveaway. Current topics are An Introduction to the Sunshine Phonics Decodable Books, The New Sunshine Online Decodable Library, and Sunshine Phonics Free Assessment Kit. Register for a webinar by clicking on the button below.
We have a series of 10 videos exploring how a teacher makes the best use of the Sunshine Phonics Decodables books in her classroom. In the videos, our teacher, Charlotte, talks about using the books with her students, her experiences with a group of children struggling with the alphabetic principle, how to use the information on the inside front cover of our decodable readers to prepare children for the story, assessment, short vowel sound knowledge, the progression in learning of the Sunshine series, the basis of synthetic phonics, and using manipulatives.
Plus, our Sunshine Blog discusses topics of practical interest to teachers, with a new post each month.
We have added two dates in term 1 of 2025 for our structured literacy workshop, Cracking the alphabetic code! Read, Write and Spell with Mastery. Implementing a Systematic, Synthetic Phonics Approach. This workshop covers both the theory behind and the practice of implementing a structured approach to literacy. It will equip teachers to plan and run their classes with confidence. Click on the Workshops button below to read more and to register.
